Hi I'm Andrew,

but people call me Troake.

I was born in Newfoundland, Canada. I am an avid programmer with a passion for robotics and automation. I am currently an undergraduate computer engineering student at Memorial University.

Personal Projects

I spend a lot of my time working on personal projects. These projects cover a variety of subjects and technologies. Some are unfinished and can't be fully viewed yet.

Featured Project: Fun Web Controllable ROV

This project was a small learning experience of features of JavaScript integration of the HTML canvas. The project is a little ROV that is able to fly around on a web page. It can be controlled using the WASD keys and the F key to exit.

This feature is not available on mobile.

A Software leader,

for Eastern Edge Robotics.

As the software lead for Memorial University's Eastern Edge Robotics, I help people grow and learn new aspects of software development; just like how I did when I joined the team years ago. My time on Eastern Edge has allowed me to explore the advanced fields of autonomy, image recognition and analysis, and machine learning.

A modular modern software control architecture!

The software I helped develop for the robot is designed for people who have never piloted an ROV, to be able to do so. The control software was designed as a web application to allow deployment on any system. Alongside controlling the movement of the ROV, there is a custom control profile editor, theme selection and more.

I have also done professional work:

For Verafin,

as a Software Developer Co-op.
Java Scala AWS

At Verafin, I got the opportunity to work on crime finding financial analytics. The analytic I developed is used to catch criminals performing illegal actions. This co-op I worked with, and integrated many different cloud technologies into one solution.

For Wind River Systems,

as a High Availability Systems Intern.
Python

I was fortunate enough to get the chance to work on the Wind River Cloud Platform project, an open source leading- edge cloud solution. I worked directly on the system configuration manager for the platform.

For National Research Council Canada,

as a Web Application Developer Co-op.
Java Apache Tomcat JavaScript

I developed a platform to display analytics and forecasts of building energy consumption. This is apart of the Smart Building Initiative, hoping to reduce carbon emissions from large commercial buildings.

Troake is out and about!

I love to explore new things and new challenges. I have a passion for learning and knowledge, and it shows. Below are some of the experiences I've had the opportunity to try throughout my life.

1st Place, Credit Union App Design Challenge at the Canadian Undergraduate Technology Conference East.

Livestream technical support and commentator for the MATE Newfoundland regional ROV competition

Announcer for 2018 event. Provided entertainment.
